The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is a health-care community dedicated to improving the health of children. At SickKids, we work hard to make sure everyone is treated fairly and with respect. Part of that is ensuring we provide excellent customer service to people with disabilities. Quality and service excellence is one of SickKid Strategic Directions and the Hospital philosophy of family-centred care provides an existing framework for our staff, physicians and volunteers to facilitate respect for individuals and meet their unique needs.
Consistent with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Ontario Human Rights Code and the SickKids Code of Conduct, this policy:
■Provides guidance on services that are available to accommodate an individual disability< /p>
■Outlines how feedback related to access and accommodation can be communicated and how any issues will be managed
■Outlines training/learning expectations of staff
